Mythos Shows Security Timelines Are Shrinking. Vendor Evaluation Has to Catch Up
Total Article Read Time: 4 min
The emergence of Mythos reinforces a broader trend: cybersecurity timelines are shrinking, and security teams have less time than ever to investigate, make decisions, and respond. While debates continue around the capabilities of individual AI models, the more important takeaway is that AI is accelerating vulnerability discovery and attacker workflows. As a result, organizations should evaluate security vendors based not only on detection capabilities, coverage, or AI claims, but on how effectively they help teams move from signal to investigation, judgment, and action under real-world time pressure.
Traditional vendor evaluations focus too heavily on inputs such as integrations, dashboards, and 24/7 monitoring rather than measurable operational outcomes. Instead, buyers should prioritize investigation quality, transparency, speed to disposition, and the evidence supporting security decisions. As AI matures, both investors and security leaders are increasingly demanding proof that AI fundamentally improves security operations rather than simply enhancing the user interface. The vendors that will succeed are those that reduce ambiguity, demonstrate clear reasoning, and enable faster, more confident decisions when every minute matters.
